Charleston's Dining Options Continue To Expand

You know we have a palate that is willing to experiment when a restaurant specializing in African cuisine opens here. After all, I doubt we have many African immigrants in Charleston.

Bintu Atelier opened recently on Line Street downtown. It's the only place on the peninsula with dishes like jollof rice, fufu, and mafe on the menu. The small East Side establishment comes from chef Bintou Ndaw.

Filipino Restaurant To Open On Spring Street In July

I love that entrepreneurs have made Charleston a literal testing ground, an incubator, for new concepts. Many of these have been restaurants over the years.

After living in the DC area for years, which had a robust culinary scene, we got used to trying a wide variety of cuisines.

We have the same luxury here in Charleston lately.

Colectivo To Open On Johns Island This Month

A chef with some serious bona fides will open a Mexican restaurant on Johns Island in July. Except it won't be traditional Mexican.

Colectivo’s tacos and burritos won’t arrive as they do in other Charleston restaurants. Similar to a barbecue restaurant, meats will be served by the pound along with sides and stacks of house-made tortillas.
